Images have always exerted an attraction on us, and not just with the new media such as photography, film and the Internet, which, if you think about it properly, is surprising. They captivate us , draw us in, challenge us.
It´s exciting and mysterious at the same time. I face this phenomenon in research and teaching, on guided tours and in seminars, in public relations and within the framework of consulting in philosophy and arts.
In our dealings with others and with the world, we find forms and ways that connect us. Through them we define ourselves and find our happiness. The promise of happiness they give us—with traditions, in rituals, with religion, in family, through education, at work, in things like a car, but also in the nation—we give everything for that: for better or for worse.
To face up to this and to examine the different forms and ways of dealing with them and their mechanisms and to make them fruitful for one's own life in the good, I face in my work with you.
Since antiquity, people have thought so intensely about the world and our existence in it that it never fails to astonish us. There is so much to learn from their thoughts. It can be breathtaking.
I see it as my task to let others share in this rush of ideas, the flow of thoughts in joint readings and conversations, and provide references to today.
